A BABY born in the back of a cab is going to be called ‘Uber’ in honour of the taxi driver who helped to deliver it.
When a pregnant Delhi resident known only as Babli couldn’t get hold of an ambulance on Thursday, she had no choice but to hire a taxi to take her to hospital.

Driver Shahnawaz had only just set off for the nearest hospital when he had to stop the cab, which was carrying heavily pregnant Babli and two of her friends.
“The woman was writhing in pain and her friends did not know what to do,” cabbie Shahnawaz told The Times of India.
His passengers made a makeshift labour room in the back of the cab and helped the woman to deliver her baby.

“I pulled out the towels from the seats and poured some drinking water into a bowl. The child was born within minutes and I was really happy to see that he was responding,” he said.
In moments, they were back on the move as Shahnawaz drove them to the hospital, where he rushed his passenger to the emergency room on a stretcher.
“The doctors asked if I was her husband. I narrated the entire incident after which they congratulated me. This was one of the happiest moments of my life,” said Shahnawaz.
Now the woman’s family wants the hero driver to name the baby. At a ceremony on Sunday, Shahnawaz will name the baby ‘Uber’ after the cab company he works for.
